I completed my training in the UK including my PhD research investigating the psychosocial effects of living with an increased genetic risk of breast cancer, for women with a strong family history of the disease. After working for the NHS in primary care mental health services for a couple of years, I relocated to Perth.
Since 2008, I have been working as a Clinical Psychologist and conducting clinical research in WA government health rehabilitation services (including at the State Head Injury Unit, State Rehabilitation Service and State Major Trauma Unit). I have a broad range of experience working with adults and older adults with multiple physical health problems including cardiovascular illnesses, acquired brain injury (including stroke, tumour and traumatic brain injury) and chronic pain. I am passionate about maximising people's quality of life during adjustment to physical illness or disability and lifestyle change. I use a hollistic evidence-based approach to clients, collaborating with their other health professionals or families where required. I tailor my therapy to each individual including elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Behavioural Medicine and Motivational Interviewing to treat adjustment difficulties, grief/loss, depression & anxiety problems.
I work at Wisdom Health on Mondays and am otherwise based at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation.
You can access my academic research publications from my ResearchGate profile.
I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)/Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) and am a PBA board approved-supervisor.
